Ever Tried Hasselback Potatoes? How about Hasselback Steak?

Hasselback steak is a stunning and delicious way to cook a steak that is sure to impress whomever you serve it to. It involves making small slits in the steak and stuffing them with flavorful ingredients like garlic, herbs, and cheese. The result is a steak that is juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. Here's how you can make delectable Hasselback Steak:

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons oil (for mushrooms)

1 onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, chopped

2 cups mushrooms, quartered

1 teaspoon salt (for mushrooms)

¼ teaspoon pepper (for mushrooms)

1 bar cream cheese, softened (you may use any type of cheese that you prefer to stuff the steak, such as blue cheese, or feta cheese)

2 egg yolks

¼ cup chives, chopped (basil and parsley can be used too, as preferred)

4 cuts of sirloin steak (or Ribeye)

2 teaspoons salt (for steak)

2 teaspoons pepper (for steak)

2 tablespoons oil (for steak)

¼ cup grated Parmesan

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 200°C

The Filling:

  1. In a hot pan, sauté mushrooms in garlic and onion, and add salt and pepper to taste. Cook until golden brown then set aside in a small bowl.
  2. Add the chives, cream cheese, and egg yolks to the bowl of sautéed mushrooms. Mix until well incorporated.

The Steak:

  1. Prepare your steak by making small slits along the top of each piece, about 1/2 inch apart. Make sure not to cut all the way through the steak.
  2. Season the steak with salt and pepper on both sides.
  3. Pack a spoonful of the filling mixture into each slit in the steak.
  4. Heat the oil in a pan over high heat. Sear the steak for about 30 seconds,
  5. Using an oven-safe skillet (otherwise, transfer to an oven-safe dish), bake for 8-10 minutes for medium-rare doneness, or longer if you prefer a more well-done steak.

Remove the skillet from the oven and let the steak rest for about 5 minutes before slicing and serving. This allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a juicier and more flavorful steak.

Overall, Hasselback Steak is a show-stopping dish that is sure to impress your guests or family members. Now you can have an out-of-the-ordinary steak recipe at home, so give it a try and enjoy the delicious and satisfying meal that you deserve!
