Pan-roasted Halibut with Mushroom in Lemon Butter Sauce is a delicious and elegant dish to prepare for a special occasion, or even if you're just in the mood to make the usual dinner a tad bit more fancy than usual. Ingredients:

4 pieces of halibut steak

1 can mushrooms, sliced

4 tbsp of butter

1 lemon, juiced

1/2 cup chopped fresh herbs such as parsley, chives, or basil

1/2 cup water

2 tbsp of olive oil

Cayenne, salt, and pepper to taste


Instructions:

  1. In a hot skillet, melt butter and sauté mushrooms for 3 minutes. Add a pinch of salt then create a space for the halibut to cook at the center.
  2. Season the halibut steaks with cayenne, salt, and pepper on both sides. Add them to the skillet and sear for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Cook at medium-high heat. When the desired doneness is reached, set aside the halibut on a serving plate.
  3. With the mushroom left on the skillet, set it to low heat and add water to deglaze. Let some of the water evaporate.
  4. Add the butter, parsley (or herb of choice), and lemon juice to the skillet and stir until the butter is melted and the sauce is well combined. Season to taste.
  5. Spoon the mushroom and lemon butter sauce over the halibut fillets.
